Summary: Northville, led by Braydn Bovee’s hat-trick, hit the ground running to start their postseason as they defeated Germantown 7-0 at home. Germantown looked to get started early with a shot from distance that went wide of the goal. For the visitors, that would be their last attempt at goal as the Falcons settled in and pinned Germantown in their defensive half the rest of the match. Northville converted twice in the first half. The first was a low rocket to the corner from distance by Patrick Halloran, fifteen minutes into the game. Eight minutes later, Halloran put a ball over the defensive line to a charging Bovee, who headed it over a charging keeper and into the back of the net. The Falcons scored two goals quickly in the second half to seal the game early. Logan Hammons drilled an upper-ninety shot, followed by Bovee finding the side netting on an assist from Salvatore Pagano. Thirteen minutes later, Bovee finished off his hat-trick by converting a rebound. Germantown then threw all numbers into the box in an attempt to slow the Northville offense, but to no avail. The Bovee-Hammons connection continued when Bovee drilled a cross to the feet of Hammons, who put it home. In the waning minutes of the match, Ian Frasier converted his first varsity goal when his ball into the box took a fortunate deflection and found its way into the net. Germantown’s keeper, Brian Gardner, needs to be commended for his relentless work. He was able to make 14 saves to help keep his team in the game. Congrats to Germantown’s Owen Kramer, Caleb Hildenbrand, and Reece Reynolds, who finished out their soccer careers tonight. Congrats to Northville’s defensive line and keeper for earning their 12th shutout of the season. Good luck to Northville as they move on to the Sectional Semi-Final to take on North Warren next Wednesday in OESJ.

Summary: Northville and BKW-D, both WAC Divisional Champions of their respective divisions, met in Northville tonight, and in the waning seconds of the match, Logan Hammons found the winning goal to nudge the Falcons to victory. This matchup had many eyes on it as everyone knew it was going to be a very competitive match, leading into the playoffs between two teams that have performed very well this year. Sure enough, neither team disappointed the huge crowd and put on quite a show. Both the Beagles and Falcons came ready to play. It was a physical game, but also a game between teams that possess the ball well, keep their team shape, and can be very dangerous. It was Northville who found the lone goal of the first half. McQuade Klippel beat his mark with seventeen minutes left in the half and switched the point of attack. Salvatore Pagano beat his mark to the ball and played it at the feet of a charging Braydn Bovee. Bovee created the space he needed and slid one into the net to an elated home crowd on the Falcons’ senior night. After the half, the Beagles worked relentlessly to find a way back into the match. They were rewarded for their efforts when Nathan Geidel beat several defenders deep into the corner and slid a pass back to the six. Nolan O’Connor left no doubt as he drilled it home to even the scoreline. Not long after, Joey Capobianco was called on to make a diving save from point-blank range to keep Northville in the hunt. Most would expect a momentum swing at this point, but Northville had other plans and were ready to persevere together through anything thrown their way. They charged forward with possession and thought they had the game-winner when Bovee’s pass put Klippel one-on-one with the keeper. Andrew Zink came charging out and made the stop to keep the scoreline tied at ones. Then, just as the final seconds were ticking off the clock, there was a scrum in the box. With only twenty seconds remaining in the match, Hammons hit a volley from twenty yards out that curled into the far netting for the win! The home crowd went wild as Northville finished out the win on their senior night and Pink Out Night. Congrats to both teams on a great match that went up and down the field, creating an exciting matchup for all present. Both squads are in high gear heading into the playoffs next week. A special congrats to the seniors of Northville: Braydn Bovee, Kaidyn Tran, Landon Frasier, Noah Manzer, Salvatore Pagano, Keegan Canfield, Seamus Pertell, and Landon Artikuski. Best of luck to both the Falcons and Beagles, as these should both be teams to keep an eye on in the postseason.

Summary: Northville, led by McQuade Klippel, earned the road victory 9-0 at OESJ. OESJ, who had been doing very well as of late, ran into Northville tonight and were overcome with possession and speed as they created too many opportunities for the Wolves to stay in the game. In the first half, OESJ stayed very disciplined and did their best to keep the Falcons at bay. Northville was able to convert twice. The first came about halfway through when Salvatore Pagano laid it off to Logan Hammons, and he drilled a rocket into the side netting from distance. Ten minutes later, Hammons sprung Klippel, and he chipped the charging keeper for the second goal of the half. After halftime, Northville stepped up the pressure and controlled the field with unselfish play and great possession, led by Klippel, Braydn Bovee, Patrick Halloran, and Hammons. Goals came from Bovee with two, Halloran, McQuade – finishing his hat-trick, and Khyaire with two. Second-half assists were earned by Klippel, Noah Manzer, Bovee with two, and Landon Artikuski. Congrats to OESJ’s seniors, Kale Brownell, Zac Brownell, Chris Schmidtmann, and Logan Snell. The entire OESJ side should certainly be credited, as they never once hung their heads or gave up. They worked hard the entire match. It was a fun, clean game throughout that both teams should be proud of.

After a skirmish in the box, Logan Hammons drilled one into the corner. Loudonville pushed back and found the equalizer when Cooper Bibighaus put a perfect through ball to Esiah Bodnaruk. Summary: Northville bested Johnstown on a late Bovee goal for the 1-0 win at home. Northville came ready to play and put Johnstown on their heels for much of the first half with their possession game. Johnstown, anchored by Elijah Wager in defense and Tallon Travis in nets, was able to keep them off the scoreline. Then in the final ten minutes of the half, the Sir Bills pushed forward with pressure led by Danny Brown, but it was Northville’s turn to turn them away with their defensive line spurred on by the play of Logan Hammons, Landon Frasier, and Joey Capobianco. After the scoreless first half, Northville once again put the pressure on and pinned Johnstown in their end, putting many dangerous chances just wide. Then, with just over five minutes left in the match, it was McQuade Klippel who broke through the defense and drew the pressure. He then laid it off a charging Braydn Bovee, who found the only goal of the match for the game-winner. Johnstown threw everything they had forward for the last few minutes and even gained some dangerous free kicks, but Northville stood strong and took home the win.

Summary: In typical fashion, the Mayfield-Northville rivalry was decided in the final four minutes of the match, with Northville’s winning goal coming after Mayfield had come back twice during the match. The timing of the final goal was crucial for Northville, as they had scored twice earlier in the game, and both times Mayfield was able to come back and tie up the scoreline. It seems as if the game was to go on any longer than it did, Mayfield would have found a way to tie it up again. Mayfield came out strong and put on the pressure, but the Falcon defense held strong. Northville then settled in and was first on the scoreboard after stringing together several combinations ending with Niko Sevastakis laying it off to Salvatore Pagano, who buried it in the far netting. With just over a minute left in the half, Mayfield earned a corner. The ball snuck through to the far side, where a waiting MJ VanNostrand collected it and sent a far-post shot. His shot was a great curving shot into the far net just out of the keeper’s reach. The second half brought a flurry of Northville pressure as they looked to take back the lead. The pressure resulted in a goal with twenty-six minutes left when Braydn Bovee’s pass connected with McQuade Klippel in the middle as he drove it home. Just four minutes later, Mayfield charged down the field and earned a corner. Aiden Horn’s corner was met by a flying Marcus Leo, who tied up the match at twos. Mayfield continued their pressure and were a crossbar away from taking the lead, but it wasn’t meant to be. Then, with the clock winding down, Magnus Halloran put a through ball to Logan Hammons. Hammons calmly beat several defenders and nailed home the game-winner from eighteen yards out. Both teams should be commended on an exciting, hard-fought match, but especially congratulations to the Falcons, whose timing of the last goal made all the difference in the final scoreline.

Summary: Northville defends its home field with a 4-0 win over Middleburgh. Middleburgh’s defense worked valiantly to stifle the Falcon attack, collapsing players and staying very compact in their shape. They were successful for thirteen minutes before Braydn Bovee’s chip found McQuade Klippel at close range. Klippel’s head found the back of the net before the keeper could react. Middleburgh’s Guillerimo Martinez worked hard to try and create offense for Middleburgh, but the stubborn defensive line of the Falcons would turn away almost every attack before they could gain much momentum. Just before half, Northville extended the lead when Patrick Halloran slotted a perfect cross to Bovee, who slid it into the net. Northville continued with the pressure in the second half and finished the match with two more goals – a shot off the side post and in from Klippel and Kaidyn Tran’s half-volley. Assists came from Bovee and Keegan Canfield. Northville’s Joey Capobianco earned another shutout with the help of his defensive line, especially Logan Hammons and Landon Frasier. Middleburgh’s JJ Narzymski and Connor Mattice worked constantly all night, doing everything they could to disrupt the Falcon attacks.

With five minutes before the halftime whistle, a PK was called, and Jared Becker calmly tied the match. Then, with only a minute to go in the match, Nate Jones collected a clearance and sent a great 40-yard shot into the far netting for the game-winner. Summary: Northville won their Ring of Fire 5K Soccer Tournament today with a 6-0 win over visiting Hartford. The Falcons jumped out of the gates quickly and almost took the early lead, hitting the post just thirty seconds into the match. Northville continued with their possession and teamwork to create several chances, but the Tanagers of Hartford fought valiantly to keep them off the scoreboard. About halfway through the first half, Northville finally found the tally they were looking for when Noah Manzer worked hard to get on the end of the ball. He then slotted a perfect pass to a charging Salvatore Pagano, who put in the eventual game-winner. Northville’s offensive pressure created two more scores before the half when Logan Hammons’s corner connected with McQuade Klippel in the box. Just before the half, Niko Sevastakis set up Klippel, who found twine again just minutes before the half. In the second half, Hartford worked hard to stay in the match. Keeper Damon Duhame made some great saves in the nets! Gabe Durkee and Nolin LaCross both worked had to try and get possession started for Hartford, but the Falcon defense was just too stubborn to bend as they helped Joey Capobianco earn his second shutout of the season. Northville’s second-half goals came from Pagano, McQuade (who sealed his hat-trick), and Khyaire Tran, with assists coming from Seamus Pertell, Bradyn Bovee, and Sevastakis. Assists for every goal show the Falcons’ unselfish play and teamwork. Congrats to all teams and helpers as this game capped off a great Ring of Fire 5K Soccer Tournament in Northville with a great atmosphere and lots of great soccer taking place in the past three days. Summary: The host, Northville, downed last year’s Ring of Fire 5K Soccer Tournament Champion, Corinth, 8-0 in the first round today, setting up a WAC-ADK matchup for both first and third place games this coming Saturday.
Northville played very unselfishly today and created many opportunities because of it. Five different players scored. Leading the way was senior Braydn Bovee, who had a hat-trick. Adding additional tallies were McQuade Klippel with two, Salvatore Pagano, Landon Artikuski, and Logan Hammons. Assists came from Hammons, Magnus Halloran, Pagano, Klippel, Niko Sevastakis, and Patrick Halloran. Neither the goals nor the constant driving rain could truly dampen the Riverhawks’ spirit, as they worked hard the entire match and never gave up. Michael Petteys and Noah Thompson worked well on the field, while freshman Philip Richardson made some good stops in the nets. Northville’s Joey Capobianco was called on late in the match for some crucial saves, along with help from his defensive line, to preserve the clean sheet and earn the shut-out for Northville.
The consolation match between Galway and Corinth will be on Saturday at 3 pm, while Northville and Hartford play for the tournament championship at 7 pm on Saturday, September 6, in Northville.
