NCS Last Week, Sept. 1-7

Here’s a look at some of the things that happened during our short but jam-packed first week of school!

Our 11th Annual Ice Cream Social was Tuesday, Sept. 2, and we couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day. Students and staff enjoyed ice cream and great company, and families took advantage of some playground time, too. MANY THANKS to Stewart’s for donating the ice cream and making such a fun event possible! The Class of 2026 gathered at 6:00 a.m. on the first day of school on Wednesday, the 3rd, for the first-ever Senior Sunrise Breakfast. The kids celebrated their “last first day” with fun games, great food and music. Despite the early hour, the turnout was incredible, with nearly every senior in attendance. THANK YOU to the Class of 2026 advisors and parent helpers who planned and produced a great kickoff to the kids’ senior year! Staff gathered to greet students arriving for the first day of the 25-26 school year. It was awesome to see old friends and meet new students, and it’s always exciting to see everyone’s “first day” outfits. We’re so happy the weather has been so nice for the beginning of school! The Varsity Soccer Senior banners were attached to the soccer field fence in time for the home opener on Thursday, the 4th; please visit https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/19bhf26RuPYZmIYtlfr0o1_OMnqtU4jvF?usp=drive_link to see all 11 banners, and congratulations to our seniors!

Northville’s Ring of Fire 5K Soccer Tournament featured a Boys’ Varsity bracket and a Boys’ JV bracket. We are so thankful for the support and sponsorship of the Ring of Fire 5K organization!

The Varsity teams kicked off the tournament on an incredibly rainy Thursday evening, with Northville defeating Corinth 8-0 and Hartford defeating Galway 1-0 in overtime. That set up Saturday’s Varsity championship game, where your Northville Falcons overcame Hartford 6-0 en route to securing the tournament trophy! The JV bracket saw Northville top Canajoharie-Fort Plain 6-0 and Cobleskill-Richmondville beat Johnstown 4-0 on Friday, the 5th. Saturday’s championship game went to overtime following a 1-1 tie in regulation. Owen Kallen scored a sudden victory goal early in the first overtime to propel the Falcons to victory and the tournament championship! Congratulations to all the players and to Coach Chamberlain and Coach Richardson! The DEFENDING STATE CHAMPION Girls’ Varsity Soccer team opened the season with three away games. A 0-1 loss to Greenwich on Wednesday was followed by a dominating performance by the Falcons in the NYSSCOGS New York State High School Girls’ Soccer Hall of Fame Tournament. Northville soundly beat Fillmore Central 7-4 at Shenendehowa on Saturday, then blanked Amsterdam 6-0 at OESJ on Sunday. We’re sorry there aren’t any photos, but that does not diminish how proud we are of our team!
